Lathe mandrels are made of high quality steel, hardened and ground
Thorns are conical
The size of the mandrel is marked on the side of the larger diameter
Mandrels are mainly used when machining smaller rotary objects that already have a hole machined
The workpiece slides onto the smaller side of the mandrel and moves until it catches on the conical face of the mandrel
To achieve greater accuracy, it is recommended to clamp the mandrel between the tips.
Rotation is then ensured by a heart driver, which is attached to the side of the mandrel equipped with a flat surface.
