Thorns are tapered
Thickness is indicated on the larger diameter side
Thorns are used mainly for machining smaller rotary objects, The machining object is slid onto the smaller side of the mandrel and shifted until it is captured on the cone surface of the mandrel. To achieve greater precision, it is recommended to clamp the mandrel between the points.
The rotation is then ensured by a cardiac grip which is attached to the side of the mandrel with a flat surface.
